In what can only be described as every expectant parent’s worst nightmare, a mum-to-be found out her husband had been cheating on her the day she told her now-ex she was expecting.
In an anonymous Reddit post, she explained that they’d been trying for a baby for three years, and when she told her husband she’d finally fallen pregnant, he broke down and confessed he was having an affair with one of his work colleagues.
The mum-to-be filed for divorce, but said she’s faced backlash for telling her ex he won’t be allowed in the delivery room when the baby arrives.
hat’s more, after asking for a divorce, her ex moved out of the home they shared and into a new property with the woman he’d had an affair with.
The mum explained in her social media post that she made the decision to continue with the pregnancy, but doesn’t feel comfortable with her ex being in the delivery room when she gives birth in December – adding that people are shocked by her decision.
She explained: “I don’t want him to be in the delivery room with me. I’m not punishing him but he isn’t my partner anymore. I don’t want him seeing my body.”
The woman added: “When we break up with people we don’t usually think it’s OK to show our bodies to them, isn’t that right? I just can’t have him with me.
“He is beside himself with grief and everybody thinks I’m so wicked and evil now. People act like I’m the devil.”
Thankfully, readers of the mum-to-be’s post flooded it with support, with plenty reassuring her that she wasn’t ‘wicked’ or ‘evil’ for not wanting him in the room.
One user commented: “Birth is not a form of entertainment and being witness is a privilege.
“While it’s special and amazing, no one will ever be forced to have someone they’re uncomfortable around be there during their most vulnerable moment.”
Another added: “Plus, he can see his child after the delivery. He does not need to be invasive, or in the delivery room, while you are vulnerable.”
Many added that her ex had no right to be there due to his infidelity.
One said: “He forfeited the right to be in there with you when he cheated and basically ended the relationship.
“Nobody can stop him from being in the hospital, but that’s all he’s entitled to.”
The mum-to-be edited her post to thank readers for their understanding and support.
“I thought I was going mad with my ‘high demands’,” she said, adding: “The father and the rest of the family can wait in the hospital. I don’t mind that.
“I’m not going back to my ex-husband even if I sometimes think it would be the best for our child to have his parents.”
