Britney Spears accused her father, Jamie Spears, claiming that the latter regularly shamed her for her weight, writes the Daily Mail. The singer said that her father was cruel when he was drunk.
Excerpts from the 41-year-old Grammy-winning singer’s new memoir, The Woman In Me, have been published in The Sun, in which she “takes aim” at her 71-year-old father, saying that when he drank too much, he constantly was making remarks about her weight. The singer describes her attitude as “evil, indifferent and cold”.
Britney said that after she became famous, her father repeatedly “scrutinized” her appearance. “He said that I am fat and that I should do something about it,” the singer said.
“My father used to drink so much that his brain went dark,” The Sun quotes the singer’s memoirs, “He would disappear from the house for days at a time.” And when he was drunk, he was really evil.”
Britney also added that she later realized that her daddy issues came from within her own family because she was abused by her father, June Spears.
“At that time, I didn’t know why he was so cruel to us, and he was never satisfied with what we did for him. The saddest thing was that I just wanted to have a caring father by my side who would love me the way I am,” the artist wrote in his book.
